Hi, foodie folks! I’m Cory (she/her), I’m really looking forward to meeting you at The Farm Upstream. I grew up playing in my grandparents’ midwest gardens and fell in love with farming as a form of political resistance and community building at Feedom Freedom Growers urban farm in Detroit, in 2014. Through Feedom Freedom Growers I met and learned from activist-gardeners Grace Lee Boggs and Myrtle Thompson who teach about collective farming as a path towards healing and transformation. Since then, I have been trying my best to weave social justice, community-building, relationship to place, and growing/eating food together however I can. Notable parts of this journey include cooking and gardening at Spectrum Youth and Family services, managing the vegetable production at Bread and Butter Farm, moving into the farmhouse at The Farm Upstream in March, completing my MSW at UVM this spring, and starting a nature-based therapy practice. The Farm Upstream CSA is the most exciting culmination of this journey to date!! Relationships, food, mutual aid, local economy, recipes, labor of love, and joy! Thank you for sharing in this dream with me and us. If you see me around the farm, please stop and say hello. I would love to meet you, learn a bit about you, and maybe even talk recipes or flower growing (I have a lot to learn).
